DEARNE VALLEY – Bolton Ings (SE4302) – 2+4y Mute Swan, 6 Greylag, 24 Gadwall, 9 Tufted Duck, 3 Mallard, 3 Pochard, 10+ Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe and 69 Coot. Also present were 2 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 1 MARSH HARRIER, 1 Buzzard, 1 Sparrowhawk, 39 Lapwing, 1 Swift, 1 Jay and c120 Hirundines (Alan Whitehouse per today’s BARNSLEY BIRD SIGHTINGS)

DEARNE VALLEY – Wombwell Ings (SE4102) – In the back field between Wombwell Ings and Broomhill Flash were 600+ Canada Geese and 134 Greylag. Present on the ings were 46 Shoveler, 42 Gadwall, 15 Teal, 11 Mallard, 3 Tufted Duck, 3 Wigeon and 1 Pochard, 1 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 2+1y Coot, 1 Moorhen, 67 Lapwing, 1 Swift, c50 House Martin, 2 Pied Wagtail and c100 Goldfinch (Alan Whitehouse per today’s BARNSLEY BIRD SIGHTINGS)

DON VALLEY – Rawmarsh – Haugh Road – 3 Swift SW(Per today’s SHEFFIELD BIRD STUDY GROUP-RECENT NEWS). Being entered on Birdtrack by SBSG.

HUMBERHEAD PEATLANDS – Hatfield Moors area (SE7106D & SE6905X) – 150-200+ Pink-footed Geese, 4 Egyptian Geese N, 2 PINTAIL, 2 MARSH HARRIER, 2 HOBBY, 14 Ringed Plover, 8 Dunlin, 1 GREENSHANK, 12 Curlew, 6 RUFF and 2 Kestrel (John Robinson & Mark Smedley). WENT VALLEY – Southfield Res (SE6519) – 1 MARSH HARRIER, 4 Buzzard, 2 SANDWICH TERN flew in @ 10:52am and left E @ 10:54am; 1 Swift and 2 Grey Wagtail (Adrian Scutt)

LOCALWeather: very changeable with a mixture of clear, cloudy but bright and overcast skies with squally showers particularly during the morning and early afternoon. Visibility: very good/excellent throughout. Temperatures: +10.4°C to +16.5°C. Wind: light/moderate then strong before returning to light during the evening with gusts from 29-39mph from mid-morning until early evening; variable in direction from the SW quarter until early afternoon; then W until late evening before returning to WSW by 11pm. Surface pressure: 1001hPa-987hPa. Fronts etc.: three occlusions at the head of a large Depression centred off NE Scotland moved E during the afternoon/evening.
