DEARNE VALLEY Mexborough North Ings (SE4801) – On the Ings – 2 Shoveler, 1 Grey Partridge, 1 Grey Heron, 4 Lapwing, 1 Snipe, 8 Skylark, 12 Linnet, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 (s) Chiffchaff, 5 Yellowhammer, 10 Reed Bunting. On River/ bank, 4 Tufted Duck, 8 Mallard, 3 Mute Swan, 2 Redshank, 8 Moorhen, 2 pairs Coot, 3 (s) Chiffchaff, 1 (s) Willow Warbler. Flying up /down the valley – 3 Mute Swan, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Redshank, 3 Sand Martin, A WHITETHROAT, first of the year, was singing in the same bush we regularly saw one in last summer (Mark Wigglesworth).

This is the presumed escaped bird which has been seen at a number of sites in the East Midlands.
